JOHN SHEARER 2 & 4 BIN DIRECT DRILLS
Seeding & tillage company, John Shearer, manufacture a range of drills to suit both the pastoralist and broadacre farmer. Broadacre models include, 4 and 6 rank drills in both 2 and 4 bin configurations and sizes range from 20 rows, through to the wide 33 row model.
These versatile drills, provide farmers with a multitude of options to suit many different types of conditions and farming practices, including summer cropping, direct drilling and conventional seeding.
The 4 bin drill is designed to allow up to four operations in one pass. This model will suit the mid-sized grain grower who wants to deep band urea, plant crops and apply blended or compound fertilizers in one pass. The third or smaller compartment, can be used to sow pasture seeds at the same time.
Compared with an airseeder, the John Shearer 4 bin model drill is a fraction of the price, easier to pull requiring less horse power (fuel) and provides more precise seed placement.
The 2 bin drills are available in a number of models; 20, 24 and 28 rows in 4 rank and 21, 27 and 33 rows in a 6 rank design.
Both the 2 and 4 bin drills share many features.
The standard metering drive is a 31 speed “Shearer” oil bath gearbox which provides simple calibration and a wide range of sowing rates for both seed (cereals & small seeds) and fertilizer.
Other features, include the large seed and fertilizer compartments, which result in less stops between refills and high flotation tyres to enhance seed placement.
All models can be fitted with either the, ‘620’ tyne or ‘disc’ assembly.
Maintenance time is reduced, with the easily accessible remote greasing facility on the grain and fertilizer shaft bearings and adjustable rubber gates minimize seed damage and fertilizer buildup.
Other standard features include, large platform with safety rail, electronic hectare meter and lid gas struts.
In the Shearer tradition, the 2 and 4 bin direct drills, are robust, heavily constructed and built to last resulting in less down time, for a more efficient and cost effective operation.
